Our Key Takeaways from the Plow Security Workshop

Today, Hacking is Easier than Ever

Did you know that the FBI Nashville Resident Agency sees three to four businesses hacked each week? With the threat of cyber attacks constantly growing, it is incredibly serious. Cyber intrusions are becoming more commonplace, more dangerous, and more sophisticated.

Last month, Plow hosted a Security Workshop with Dean Kinsman, FBI CyberSquad Supervisor and a panel of executive security experts at the Nashville Technology Council in South Nashville. Each panelist gave advice on how companies can prevent, be aware, and keep networks safe and secure from cyber attacks.

In today’s technology advanced world there is an abundance of information online, making hacking simpler and easier than ever.

The big question: How do I prevent my company from getting hacked?

Education

Education is key. Make sure your employees and clients are educated on everything from phishing emails to encryption, and realize the severity of these types of instances. Hackers can get their hands on information from places like social media or google calendars to find a loophole into your network.

Multi-factor Authentication AKA MFA

Multi-factor authentication is a security system that requires more than one method of authentication from independent categories of credentials to verify the user’s identity to login or other perform transactions. MFA stops 90% of hackers and is one of the best preventative measures you can take.

Communication

Find ways to get people from different departments within your organization to talk about solutions together. Have Marketing meet with IT and Sales to meet with HR. Everyone has a different prospective. It’s simple: get in the same room and talk to each other! Drop the technical talk and speak to each other in simple terms. People are your greatest tool when combating cyber security.

Don’t let your business fall into a hacker schemes. Contact Plow today to learn how we can help keep your network secure.
